Up until some time in the 1980s, there was a confectionery bar made by Rowntree Mackintosh, called 'Nutty'. Sadly, it's just a memory now - discontinued before Rowntree became part of Nestlé. It was my sister's favourite - and she often reminisces about it.

Use a pastry brush or off-set spatula to smooth a thin layer of chocolate over the top and around the sides of the stacks. If desired, draw a waffle pattern across the top of the bars using a toothpick. Chill the bars until the chocolate has hardened, at least 30 minutes. Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.

Like with the Totally Nutty! peanut butter bars, Hostess was entering well-covered territory when they came out with their own pecan rolls — Pecan Rollers, which were around at least as far back as 2009.
